Kentucky Lawyer D. Tyler Roberts

In 1790, John Roberts was born in what is now Henry County, Kentucky. My family has lived in that region ever since. Most made a living as farmers, some, like my father, were entrepreneurs. I myself am a first-generation lawyer and I chose this path as a means to an end. That end is helping people.

I was raised in Shelby County, Kentucky. My family had a small farm, primarily beef cattle and tobacco, and my father worked in the insurance industry. On the farm, you pitch in and help as soon as you’re able. I remember spending a lot of time in the winter in the barn, listening to Kentucky basketball games on the radio, and standing on a five gallon bucket so that I could see over the table while I was stripping tobacco.

At the University of Kentucky, I studied business. I then went on to attend law school at the University of Mississippi. At Ole Miss, I started an organization with some fellow students to serve as a self-regulating body for independent investment advisers, but after a few years of waiting for a bill to pass in the U.S. Congress that would grant us the authority to do so, I decided it was time to move on to achieve what I had originally set out to do, which was to offer my help to my fellow Kentuckians.

In the fall of 2012, I moved to Lexington and went to work helping folks from towns all across the Commonwealth by establishing Roberts Law Office. Outside of work, I like to spend time with family and friends, I enjoy camping, kayaking, fishing, golfing, watching sports, smoking cigars, sipping Kentucky bourbon, and even doing a tad bit of farm work. I invite you to reach out to me if you or a loved one ever need a helping hand.
